1. EVENT MEDITERRANEAN CHALLENGE CUP 2010 QUALIFYING TOURNAMENT
This tournament is being organized by the MTBA, and will commence on 6 - 7 and 10 February, 2010

2. ELIGIBILITY
The tournament is open to Maltese nationals who are bona fide MTBA members as of noon on Saturday 6th February 2010.


3. FORMAT
This is a scratch event and will be run at the Eden Super Bowl, over a total of 24 games spread over three 8-game sessions, to be played on:
- Saturday 6th at 14:30hrs
- Sunday the 7th at 09:30hrs
- Wednesday the 10th at 09:30hrs.

Two separate competitions will be held for male and female divisions, although these will run concurrently.

4. PLACING, TIES FOR PLACING
Final positions will be decided on total pinfall after 24 games. In the event of a tie, the bowler with the highest final game shall take the higher position. Should this still result in a tie, then the highest penultimate game will decide the positions, and so on until the tie is broken.


5. FEES
An entry fee of € 60.00 will be charged. No requests for refunds will be entertained for any reason whatsoever. On the contrary, any listed participant who fails to honor his/her commitments to bowl must inform the Tournament Director of the reason and may be reported to the Association's Disciplinary Committee. A lineage fee of € 2.50 per game will be charged by the Eden SuperBowl.

6. AWARDS
The first and second placed competitors in each division will earn the right to represent Malta in the XIII Mediterranean Challenge Cup, which is to be held in Pafhos, Cyprus between the 13 – 18 of April 2010. Should one of the eligible qualifiers be unable to compete in this event for any valid reason, then the third placed bowler of the respective division will be invited in his/her place. Should the third placed bowler(s) also be unable to attend, or indeed both the first and second placed bowlers, then it will be at the discretion of the MTBA Board of Directors to decide if anyone should be chosen to represent Malta in said event. All tournament related costs (entry fees, flights, accommodation) will be borne by the MTBA.

Participation in the XIII Mediterranean Challenge Cup in Cyprus is dependent on the eligible athletes training adequately for participation with the National coach during the period between the conclusion of these Qualifiers and the XIII Mediterranean Challenge Cup in Cyprus, at the Association’s expense. This will include extra training sessions on the lanes and fitness training at the Lord's gym in St. Julian's.


7. CLOSING DATE
Completed entry forms, accompanied by the € 60.00 entry fee or online entries, may only be accepted by current MTBA Officials or MTBA website* . The closing time & date for entries will be 18:00 on Friday 5th February, 2010.

Lane assignments and lane movements
Lane draws
Carried through by the management by a neutral person.
Players per pair in squads
The number of players per lane will be 2 or 3 (maximum 5 players per pair of lanes).
Frequency of movement
The lane movement will be one pair of lanes after each game.
Movement method
Left lane players moves left and right players moves right. There will be no movement from one lane to another while the contestants are still bowling.

Rules

As the Championships are organised and conducted by the MTBA, its general playing rules and  regulations, plus the following specific rules, will govern this Tournament.

Disputes
Disputes must be settled immediately and before the bowlers on those lanes continue bowling. In the event of no agreement being reached, the official's/Tournament Director's decision will be final. Where necessary, a provisional ball shall be rolled where the dispute cannot be settled on the spot.
Misconduct
Any individual whose conduct is considered to be derogatory to the best interest of the sport, on or off the lanes, may be disqualified from the Tournament and will be reported to the Association's Disciplinary Committee.
Dress Code

Should an MTBA sponsor supply a free T-shirt/polo shirt to each competitor, then it will be obligatory to wear the sponsor’s ‘shirt’ throughout the Tournament. In any event, no individual may
accept a sponsorship from any competitor of the Tournament’s sponsor. All competitors must bowl in suitable bowling attire; I.E. men are to wear full length trousers. Moreover, shorts, 3/4 length trousers and jeans are strictly prohibited for all competitors. Ladies are permitted to bowl in suitable skirts or divided skirts (skorts). Collar less and sleeveless shirts are also prohibited for all competitors.
